Justin Richards currently lives in Newark, Ohio where he is married to wife Amanda Richards and are expecting their first child in November. He attended Richmond Edison High School where he was a four year letter winner playing outfield, infield and pitching. He earned OVAC 1st Team All Conference honors all four years of High School. Richards’ sophomore, junior and senior seasons he earned 1st Team All Eastern District honors. In 2002 he was a member of the school’s 1st State Runner Up team, and in 2003 he was part of the schools 1st State Poll team. In 2003 he was named OVAC and Eastern District Player of the Year, along with All State honors.
Richards attended West Virginia University where he was a two year starter at third base and named the team’s Freshman of the Year. After two years at West Virginia he transferred to Ashland University; there his team was never ranked outside the top 15 in the nation and made it to the 2006 D2 college world series. In 2006 he earned GLIAC 2nd Team All Conference honors, and 1st Team Diatonics All Regional Team. Upon graduation from Ashland University, he started coaching as the Varsity Assistant at Lucas High School in 2008. In 2010, and again from 2013-2017, Coach Richards became the Head Baseball Coach at Johnstown Monroe High School. In 2016 he took Johnstown to their first LCL championship in nearly 20 years, earning LCL Coach of the Year. He is currently the Varsity Assistant Coach at Newark High School, and is excited to improve the baseball skills of hard working athletes by being a part of the TAD team.
